I always love doing Izzy & Patsy pictures. Probably because in many ways, I'm drawing my daughter. I'm now only two pictures away from having a book's worth of illustrations. I've also been doing colour tweaks on the old pics. These are only guides though as nothing is scanned properly - I've only got phone pictures for now. Once I'm settled in Canada, I'll buy a proper scanner and update everything properly. To show the difference this is a before colour tweak picture: And this is after:

I've drawn all my life. Probably since the very first moment I could hold a crayon. It was all I wanted to do. I dreamed of being a comic book artist and would spend my days drawing Spiderman, Captain America and every other superhero out there, as well as making up my own heroes. But as I got older, it kind of got pushed to one side. Life happened and gradually I stopped drawing altogether. But I missed it, like you miss a really good friend you've not seen in years. I was lucky that I worked in advertising as an art director so I scratched the itch but it wasn't the same. Then I got married and soon had a baby boy. Suddenly I started drawing again with my son. He was amazed at my ability to draw any superhero in the blink of an eye and I liked making him happy. So I drew more and more. I had another child, a girl this time, and my drawings and paintings continued as I had two children to make happy now. Now I can't imagine ever stopping. The following drawing was one of the first I did for my son back in 2014. I posted it on twitter, obviously feeling very pleased with myself, then forgot all about it. I found it the other day by accident — just after I'd finished this drawing: A similar idea obviously but what struck me was the improvement in my technique. There was only a period of four years between the two images and yet the difference is incredible. I don't pat myself on the back that often but I did when I saw how far I'd come.
Let's see what happens next. |
